Combative Sports Advisory Council
The Combative Sports Advisory Council was created in 2012 under the statutory authority of Minnesota Statutes 341.221. The legislation creating the council abolished the Combative Sports Commission and transferred its duties to the commissioner of labor and industry.
After the initial statutory appointment of the Combative Sports Commission membership, the commissioner appoints the nine-member council, which is composed of one retired judge of the Minnesota District Court, Minnesota Court of Appeals, Minnesota Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota, or the Eight Circuit Court of Appeals, four members with knowledge of the boxing industry and four members with knowledge of the mixed martial arts industry.
There will be no in-person meetings due to the COVID-19 pandemic. See Minnesota Statute 13D.021 for remote meeting requirements. Meetings will occur by Webex.
