Unclaimed back-wages

The Department of Labor and Industry's (DLI's) Labor Standards Division has resolved thousands of minimum wage, overtime and prevailing wage claims in past years and, as a result, many employees have received back-wage checks from DLI.

However, in certain situations, the Labor Standards staff is unable to locate each employee. Therefore, in accordance with state law, DLI forwards all unclaimed back-wage checks to the Minnesota Department of Commerce as "unclaimed property."

If you may have been owed money in connection with a minimum wage, overtime or illegal deductions audit, or for a state-funded prevailing wage project, and did not receive a back-wage check from Labor Standards, visit the Minnesota Department of Commerce Unclaimed Property Division website and follow the instructions.
