Building Strong Communities
This program is a Recognized Apprenticeship Preparation Program and provides participants with consistent and quality training needed to succeed in registered apprenticeship programs while meeting employer and industry needs.
Overview
Building Strong Communities is a 12-week, multi-trade apprenticeship preparation program designed to prepare individuals for a career in the construction industry. This program offers training endorsed by building trades unions to exposure participants to a career in the building and construction trades.

Program requirements and services
- 
18 years of age or older 
- 
High school diploma/GED/or equivalent 
- 
Be able to pass a drug screen 
- 
Possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation 
- 
Legally eligible to work in United States 
- 
Not currently enrolled in a construction union or construction trade training program 
Are any assessments/tests required for entry into this program: no
Does this program provide an industry-recognized credential(s): yes.
Participants may earn the following credentials: OSHA 10 Safety, up to four college credits from North Hennepin Community College, Construction Professional, Multi-Core Craft Curriculum (MC3) and MSHA certification.

How to apply

Apply online through the Building Strong Communities website 
- 
Attend an information session 
- 
Complete an intake assessment with program staff 
- 
Complete registration and application for the Construction Professionalism course offered at North Hennepin Community College 
- 
Attend an orientation 
*Not all applicants who apply will be selected for this program.
