View the Guide to Collecting and Reporting Permit Surcharges for background information or assistance with the permit surcharge report.

All municipalities that adopt and enforce the State Building Code, regardless of population size, are required to submit a Permit Surcharge Report and fee to DLI. The report includes the total number of combined building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing or other code related permits issued, including their valuations, fees and surcharges collected during the previous month or quarter. The report is due by the 15th day following the period in which surcharges were collected (Minnesota Statute 326B.148).
