Construction Codes and Licensing Division (CCLD) Learn
The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry’s (DLI’s) CCLD Learn offers an intuitive online interface where visitors can complete continuing education courses and earn continuing education credits in topics that interest them. The list below contains the courses offered and future topics.

Current courses
Minnesota Accessibility Code Basics
This course, presented by Karen Gridley (DLI), will cover some of the basics of the 2020 Minnesota Accessibility Code that are most often asked about for commercial buildings and public accommodation facilities, as well as a basic overview of the scoping and technical criteria for Group R occupancies, such as how to calculate the quantity of units required to comply with accessibility provisions and basic design criteria.

Residential Building Contractor Licensing and Enforcement
This course, presented by Sean O’Neil (DLI), provides an overview of Minnesota’s residential building contractor licensing requirements and DLI’s enforcement authority. A summary of recent legislative changes impacting licensing is also provided.

Elevator Licenses, Stairway Chairlifts and Platform Lifts
This course, presented by Bill Reinke (DLI), focuses on the various license types and some of their requirements. The Minnesota Rules and applicable standards that apply to stairway chairlifts and platform lifts are identified and presented. This course qualifies for 2 hours of continuing education credit for building officials and elevator constructors.

Understanding the Building Code for Special Event Centers
Session will help on how to properly classify the occupancy of special event centers and to properly apply the building code to these unique venues. This course qualifies for 1.5 hours of continuing education credit for building officials.

International Building Code Automatic Fire Sprinkler Requirements
This course is intended to provide an understanding of the automatic fire sprinkler requirements within the 2018 International Building Code with the Minnesota amendments. This course qualifies for 2.5 hours of continuing education credit for building officials and residential contractors.

2018 International Mechanical Code (IMC) and International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) Minnesota Amendments
This course focuses on amendments to the IMC and IFGC. DLI’s Chris Rosival will present about the Minnesota amendments to the 2018 IMC and IFGC. Minnesota Rules 1346 and the IMC and IFGC create the 2020 Minnesota Mechanical Code and 2020 Minnesota Fuel Gas Code.

2018 International Residential Code Minnesota Amendments
This course focuses on Minnesota Rules Chapter 1309 and amendments to the 2018 International Residential Code. Discussion includes background information and outcomes during the code adoption process. This course will help prepare those in the industry for the code adoption effective March 31, 2020.

Minnesota Plumbing Code Update
This course focuses on amendments to the UPC. DLI’s Mike Westemeier will present about the Minnesota amendments to the 2018 UPC. Minnesota Rules 4714 UPC create the 2020 Minnesota Plumbing Code.

Plumbing in Single-Family Homes
This course provides an understanding of the elements for a plumbing system in single family homes. The content has sizing of water, sanitary and vent system sizing and aspects of horizontal wet vent application.
