The Prevailing-Wage Project Assessment Form and Classification and Code Clarification Form may be submitted when asking for assistance from the Prevailing-Wage unit and are project-specific. Prevailing-Wage Project Assessment forms should only be submitted by contracting authorities or grant/loan recipients along with a copy of the project specifications or grant/loan application and grant/loan award letter. 
Apprentices working on state projects are not subject to the prevailing-wage rate determinations, except as they may be affected by registered apprenticeship agreements. The hourly rates of pay for such workers are established by the particular program to which the apprentice or trainee is subject. The term "apprentice" means: a person employed and registered in a bona fide apprenticeship program registered with the U.S. Department of Labor or with a state apprenticeship program; and

Prevailing-wage FAQS related to landscaping projects
It is in the public interest that public buildings and other public works be constructed and maintained by the best means and highest quality of labor reasonably available and that people working on public works be compensated according to the real value of the services they perform. Therefore, it is the policy of this state that wages of laborers, workers and mechanics on projects financed in whole or part by state funds should be comparable to wages paid for similar work in the community as a whole.

Note:  A systems error caused the current commercial prevailing-wage rates effective Dec. 26, 2023, to be replaced by 2024 rates that have yet to be certified. If you accessed commercial wage rates with an effective date of Dec. 16, 2024, please destroy them as the data is incorrect. The Department of Labor and Industry will certify new commercial wage rates Monday, Dec. 23, 2024, following the public notice in the State Register.

Prevailing wages are the wages required to be paid on state-funded construction and public works projects. Minnesota's prevailing-wage law (Minnesota Statutes 177.41 through 177.44) requires employees working on state-funded construction and public works projects or other projects covered by law be paid wage-rates comparable to wages paid for similar work in the area where the project is located.
