MNSHARP Construction is a Minnesota Occupational Safety and Health Administration program that recognizes major-construction companies where managers and employees work together to develop safety and health programs that go beyond basic compliance with all applicable OSHA standards and result in immediate and long-term prevention of job-related injuries and illnesses. Only construction projects at least 18 months in duration are eligible for participation in MNSHARP Construction.

Minnesota Rules, Chapter 1305, Adoption of the International Building Code The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry requests comments on its possible amendment to Minnesota Rules, chapter 1305, “Adoption of the International Building Code.” The department is considering rule amendments that incorporate by reference the 2024 edition of the International Building Code, with amendments, and other amendments necessary to administer and enforce the code requirements for non-residential construction.

All bleachers manufactured, installed, sold, or distributed after Jan. 1, 2001, are “new bleachers” and must comply with the State Building Code in effect at the time and these safety requirements. Residential contractors who perform roofing work must be licensed. They can be licensed as a residential roofer, residential building contractor or residential remodeler. Roofing subcontractors do not need a license but must register through the Contractor Registration Program.

Minnesota Rules, part 1300.0215, subpart 6, requires plumbing plans to be submitted for review and approval prior to installation of any plumbing. The plan review requirement includes the interior plumbing system and all site utility services within the property lines. Site utility services include water services, building sanitary sewers, building storm sewers, and storm drainage pipes serving catch basins or other drainage structures within the property lines. Review of plumbing plans is not required for single-family dwellings.
