Important reminder: Use the correct permanent partial disability multiplier table
Jan. 30, 2026
The Department of Labor and Industry (DLI) has noticed an increased number of permanent partial disability (PPD) benefit payments that have been calculated from outdated multiplier tables. This has resulted in incorrect payments and raised compliance concerns.
As a reminder, PPD benefits must be calculated using the multiplier table that was in effect on the date of injury. The PPD multiplier table is in Minnesota Statutes § 176.101, subdivision 2a. Current and previous PPD multiplier tables are available on the DLI website. For injury dates on or after Oct. 1, 2023, benefits must be calculated using the updated PPD multiplier table that went into effect Oct. 1, 2023, referenced in the statute above. The updated table reflects legislative changes intended to ensure fair and current compensation for injured workers. The appropriate electronic data interchange (EDI) transaction(s) and supporting documentation must be submitted in Work Comp Campus to ensure accurate reporting of the PPD benefits paid and to avoid raising compliance concerns.
If you are unsure whether your organization is using the correct PPD multiplier table, or if you need assistance interpreting the updated table, contact the Workers’ Compensation Help Desk at 651-284-5005 (press 3), 800-342-5354 (press 3) or helpdesk.dli@state.mn.us.
