Newly proposed provisions of the State Building Code based on the national documents
The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry, Construction Codes and Licensing Division’s 2026 Fall Seminar will focus on changes to the Minnesota State Building Code. Topics will include new provisions and Minnesota-specific amendments to the 2024 International Building Code (2024 IBC), including Chapter 7 about fire and smoke protection and Chapter 10 about means of egress, along with their proposed Minnesota amendments.
The program will begin with Commercial Plumbing Do’s and Don’ts, presented by the CCLD Plumbing Unit, highlighting key issues for building officials to identify during inspections of commercial buildings. The seminar will conclude with a discussion about radon code provisions for commercial buildings and R occupancies.
Attendees will receive seven continuing education credits toward licensing requirements for building officials, plumbing licenses. Full-day attendance is required to receive credit.
Additional seating has been added for each seminar to accommodate those seeking continuing education credits and valuable updates about code changes and requirements.

Continuing education
