Municipal application for state plan review
We perform, for a fee, two types of construction-related reviews. At a municipality's request, we will review plans using the State Building Code as a guide. This review includes Minnesota Rules including 1305, International Building Code; 1306, Special Fire Protection Systems; 1341, Accessibility Code; 1346, Mechanical Code and the State Energy Code. We can also complete a NFPA 13 fire sprinkler review.

Elevator permits
Only licensed elevator contractors may install, maintain, alter, repair or test elevators and elevator-related devices in Minnesota. Permits are required for the installation, alteration and removal of elevators. Permits for repairs are limited to what is identified in rule. Plumbing complaints
We license and regulate all plumbing work performed in Minnesota and investigate complaints related to plumbing work to determine whether violations of the state laws and rules governing the plumbing industry have occurred. When violations are proven, we take enforcement actions that can include fines and license revocation. We are unable to require plumbers to resolve customer disputes, pay damages, or take corrective action unless violations of the Minnesota Plumbing Code are discovered. And in some cases, disputes must be resolved through private civil action (the courts).

Poorly-built air tank explodes
When a homeowner won an auction to buy an air tank, he thought he had found a great bargain. The buyer brought home his new treasure, put it in his garage and plugged it in. When the pressure in the tank reached about 100 psi, the tank ruptured and flew across the garage. (See photos below) Luckily, nobody was injured. So, what happened to the air tank?  Unbeknownst to the buyer, it had several problems:   The tank was not built to ASME code and not registered with the National Board.
