Under the statutory authority of Minn. Stat. 326B.435, the Plumbing Board is authorized to adopt:

  • the plumbing code, including any amendments;

  • rules that regulate the licensure or registration of plumbing contractors, journeymen, unlicensed individuals, master plumbers, restricted master plumbers, restricted journeymen, water conditioning contractors, and water conditioning installers, and other persons engaged in the design, installation, and alteration of plumbing systems or engaged in or working at the business of water conditioning installation or service (except for individuals licensed as architects or professional engineers); and

  • rules that regulate continuing education for individuals licensed as master plumbers, journeyman plumbers, restricted master plumbers, restricted journeyman plumbers, water conditioning contractors, and water conditioning installers.

The Plumbing Board is further authorized to issue final interpretations and has other powers and duties that are enumerated in Minn. Stat. ch. 326B.

The Plumbing Board has 14 members. Twelve members are appointed by the Governor, one member is the Commissioner of Labor and Industry's designee, and one member is the Commissioner of Health's designee. All members are voting members except the Commissioner of Health's designee.
