Workplace safety and health representatives from the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (DLI) will recognize Delta Air Lines' Iron Range Customer Engagement Center as a Minnesota Star (MNSTAR) Program worksite April 17. The recognition event will be at 11 a.m. at 601 Iron Drive, Chisholm, MN.

"Delta has shown great leadership to allocate both the time and the resources needed to reach this MNSTAR goal," said Ken Peterson, DLI commissioner. "Its employees and management are to be commended for their joint efforts to make the commitment that safety is the top priority."

MNSTAR is a Minnesota Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MNOSHA) program that recognizes worksites where managers and employees work together to develop safety and health management systems.

To achieve this award, Delta's employees at the reservations center worked with DLI's MNOSHA consultants to go beyond basic compliance with all applicable OSHA standards and develop ways to prevent job-related injuries and illnesses.

"The safety and security of our employees, customers and business partners is a core value for Delta, and OSHA's Voluntary Protection Programs are a great validation of our continued track record of safety," said Tori Forbes-Roberts, Delta Reservation Sales and Customer Care vice president. "Safety is in our DNA and we are very proud of our Iron Range Customer Engagement Center for its focus and dedication in upholding this important value."

Delta's Iron Range Customer Engagement Center, known as "The voice of Delta," has approximately 450 employees. Headquartered in Atlanta, Delta employs more than 80,000 employees worldwide and operates a mainline fleet of more than 800 aircraft.

Commissioner Peterson and other DLI representatives will commemorate the organization's employee-employer relationship by presenting a MNSTAR Program flag and a certificate that exempts the facility for three years from MNOSHA Compliance scheduled inspections.

There are currently 35 Minnesota worksites in the MNSTAR Program, which is modeled after the federal OSHA Voluntary Protection Program. For more information, visit www.dli.mn.gov/WSC/Mnstar.asp.
