Apprenticeship Minnesota at the Department of Labor and Industry (DLI) announces the availability of $60,000 to support career exploration programs that will introduce youth to careers through registered apprenticeship. DLI seeks program proposals that target youth ages 16 to 24. Performance period:  Jan. 1, 2020, (or date of executed contract, whichever comes later) through June 30, 2020.

Purpose

Support programs that provide hands-on engaging experiences and introduce youth to career opportunities through registered apprenticeship programs.

This funding opportunity is funded through a $3.3 million U.S. Department of Labor Apprenticeship Expansion Grant to DLI to facilitate and support the expansion of registered apprenticeship in Minnesota.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • be a non-profit community-based organization; an association; school; registered apprenticeship program; or a tribal nation,

  • collaborate with an active apprenticeship program registered by DLI in a programmatically integrated manner,

  • provide a hands-on component related to the industry being explored, and

  • serve youth participants ages 16 to 24.

Application process

The deadline to submit written proposals is Nov. 15, 2019.
