Labor Standards -- Tips, tip credit

CoinsMinimum wage rates apply to all hours worked, whether part time or full time. No employer may take a tip credit against either the state or federal set minimum wage, whichever applies to the employee.

Tips are the property of the direct service employee. Employers cannot require employees to share their tips with indirect service employees -- see Minnesota Statutes 177.24, subd. 3, and Minnesota Rules 5200.0080.
