Electrical codes and standards



2014 National Electrical Code (NEC) effective date

The 2014 National Electrical Code was adopted by the Minnesota Board of Electricity with an effective date of July 1, 2014. Electrical permits/Requests for Electrical Inspection received by DLI on or after the effective date are subject to the provisions of the 2014 National Electrical Code regardless of when the work was started.

Electrical license examinations are based on the requirements of the 2014 NEC.
