Electrical codes and standards

2011 National Electrical Code (NEC) Effective Date

Due to a delay caused by the state government shutdown, the Notice of Adoption of the 2011 National Electrical Code will be published in the State Register Aug. 1, 2011 and the effective date will be Aug. 8, 2011. Electrical permits/Requests for Electrical Inspection received by the department on or after the effective date will be subject to the provisions of the 2011 National Electrical Code regardless of when the work was started.
