May is Building Safety Month

The Building Safety Month campaign, organized by the International Code Council (ICC) and International Code Council Foundation (ICCF), was created to increase awareness about the critical importance of building and designing safely and sustainable and green structures in the United States and worldwide.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty proclaimed May, 2010, as Building Safety Month in Minnesota.

Each week of Building Safety Month has been designated its own special area of focus. The themes for 2010 are:

• Week 1: Energy and Green Building
• Week 2: Disaster Safety and Mitigation
• Week 3: Fire Awareness and Safety
• Week 4: Backyard Safety
